OCEANFEST BUNDABERG

10am to 5pm, Saturday 25th August 2018 at the Bundaberg Port Marina

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Bundaberg Sunrise, Oceanfest Bundaberg is Queensland’s newest seafood festival and for those who enjoy seafood and from where it originates, this festival will be a wonderful opportunity to spend a few days in Bundaberg and for locals to appreciate what a great place we live in.

The festival will be held on the pristine lawns of the Bundaberg Port Marina so come along and experience all that Bundaberg has to offer through the tastes of the ocean on Saturday, 25th August, 2018 from 10.00am – 5.00pm. Overlooking the beautiful Burnett River, guests can choose to be seated under a marquee, an outdoor setting or bring a picnic blanket to sit on the green grasses of the marina.

Food stalls and food vans focussing on quality, locally caught seasonal seafood, fine wines and beers, together with themed entertainment, will be a significant draw card. Together with a range of ocean orientated, attractions and displays, there will be something for all ages.

These attractions and displays will focus on educational, environmental, health, recreational, cultural, tourism and historical elements. A children’s precinct of amusement rides, face painting, artist workshops and various activities will also enhance the festival’s family flavour.

To ensure consistency of quality, Ocean Pacific Seafoods, which is located here at the Bundaberg Port Marina will be the provider of seafood to all vendors, as well as providing an opportunity to purchase seafood “off the trawler”.

With free entry, this is an event not to be missed! Come taste the flavours of the region, and enjoy the beauty of Bundaberg. We look forward to seeing you there!

Bundaberg has a galvanising plant! Each year many visiting boaties take the opportunity to get their anchors and chain re-galvanised while at the Bundaberg Port Marina. So we thought we would spread the word! The plant is around 20mins drive from the marina. Patrons have access to wheel barrows to load the chain/anchors into. Turtle Coast Car Hire has utes for only $49/day that can get your chain to the plant and turn-around time is usually only a day or two. The prices are very reasonable and considerably cheaper than replacing it with new equipment. For larger volumes, the commercial unload wharf can be accessed on request and a pallet supplied to load the anchor and chain directly onto. The marina will then forklift the pallet onto the back of the ute for free!

If you are interested in what Kenco Galvanising can do for you contact them on (07) 4151 2944. For berth or ute hire reservations, contact the marina on (07) 4159 5066 or email us: info@bundabergportmarina.com.au

The “cove” has a TV, entertainment system, fridge (for the drinks) BBQ, sink area plus tables and chairs. The Bundaberg Cruising Yacht Club part funded the “Cove” and hold a “BBQ and Drinks” afternoon on the last Friday of every month. If you are looking for somewhere to watch the footy or catch up with friends while berthed at the marina, please feel welcome to use “Cruisers’ Cove, that’s what it is there for!

The Southern Great Barrier Reef has had many stories told of the world class reef breaks around Sykes Reef and Lady Elliott Island. Here is a document from a few of the local surfers that took the challenge to tame these outer reef monsters.
